Ableton announce the Novation Launchpad
Developed in conjunction with Ableton, Novation has announced the worldwide release of their new Launchpad MIDI control interface for November 1st 09. The Launchpad features a multi-color 64-button pad grid, control modes for the Session View and Live's mixer, two fully-programmable User Modes and dedicated scene-launch/function buttons. The Launchpad boast a very portable footprint of just 239 x 239 x 24 mm weighing in at only 717 g.
The pad grid is fully backlit and provides two-way feedback between the Launchpad and Ableton; orange for loaded clips; green for clips currently playing and red for clips being recorded. The Launchpad offers unique transport control for Ableton, the arrow buttons move the grid up, down, left and right one track or scene at a time. Hold down the 'Session' button in Session Mode, and you can use the arrow keys to jump eight tracks or rows at a time - very useful for navigating around large, complex Live Sets. If for whatever reason you feel you need more controls than one Launchpad has on offer, you can chain up to six Launchpads together via USB to create your own meta-setups.
Thanks,
Matt
