Rich's List Of 'Records I Want Santa To Bring Me!' For Christmas

Christmas

Santa will be here soon and from what I've heard he's in the mood for clubs, good times and anything from Moodyman! Check it...

1. Moodyman 'MM Volume 6' (White Label)

An outspoken voice in the normally non-confrontational world of electronic dance music, Moodymann (given name: Kenneth Dixon Jr.) is committed to keeping a distinctly black imprint on techno and house. While he may frustrate people with his refusal to be interviewed and insistence on reminding people of the genre's origins, the soulfulness of his output is unquestioned.

2. Don Papa 'Distortion Buzz Funk' (Sex Tags Mania Norway)

Sex Tags Mania is a record label run by Peter Anatol Mitterer and Stefan Mitterer. The label's work is focused on house and techno music and the releases are very limited. All releases consist of invited artists and music producers, collaborative releases and side-projects. For each record release, a label outsider is invited to write a text - this text is then used as (and instead of) the release information that all new releases are presented with.

3. Moxie 'Holy Invasion Edits' (Moxie Recordings Holland)

An 80's outer-space discotech trek across the galaxy!

4. Daniel Steinberg 'Rush Me' (Formatik Records Germany)

The label Formatik was founded by Jakob Hildenbrand and Franziskus Sell, aka Format:B. The goal was to create a platform that could represent the genre mix that is Format:B properly. Formatik's objective is also to release music that targets the dance floor whilst staying modern and funky.

5. Canyons & Runaway 'Dutch Mix/Jungle Mix' (On The Prowl)

Two unreleased remixes from Canyons and Runaway. Canyons remix Return to Sender's 'Dutch/Boyz/Dance Floor' and Runaway on the flip come up with the mysterious 'Jungle Mix'.

6. Mario Basanov 'Apres 4' (Future Classic Australia)

Mario Basanov (Marijus Adomaitis) is a top notch Lithuanian producer. He is a secret studio weapon, slowly but surely heading for world domination. Still in his twenties but with a solid ten years of production experience behind his back, Mario is the one to watch. House, Broken Beat, New Jazz, R&B - Mario’s creative work shows all of these are just names not boundaries.

7. Mighty Mouse 'Song For Ellen' (Mindless Boogie)

Mighty Mouse takes over the controls for the new Mindless Boogie 12" with three crazy, obsure disco edits. All hail the mouse!

8. Rick Wilhite 'Soul Edge EP' (Rush Hour Recordings Holland)

The past five years have seen various releases from Rush Hour, mostly 12"s, from artists all over the world in all different genres and directions. What they all seem to have in common is an electronic groove that is almost impossible to convey with words but has been, over time, coined The Rush Hour flavour. The RH flavour has also been used for other labels most notably, the Chicago Boogie mix CD and a 12" series on Eskimo.

9. Jacques Renault  'Favicon' (Hole In The Sky Australia)

Producer and DJ, Jacques Renault, was a post-punk Washington D.C. native who moved to Chicago in 1997 to continue his studies of viola, but in turn got a serious education in dance music. Tapping into the well established Drum 'n' Bass scene, he held a residency at Smart Bar and became a buyer at the legendary Gramaphone Records.

10. Norma Jean Bell 'Classic Series 1' (Funky Chocolate Records)

Keneth Dixon Jr. remixes 'I'm The Baddest Bitch'...Enough said about this absolute classic! Repressed and re-loved. A must in every collection.

Merry XMAS...

Love Always,

Rich.
