Best Of The Noughties DJ Charts (Part 14)
Once upon a time there was a great little record store in Melbourne called Hear Now (formerly known as Central Station). It passed away last year which was a sad day for Melbourne and all of the city's vinyl clan.
But the happy news is that Andee Frost and Jim survived. One of my fondest memories of 'Jimothy' was receiving a copy of Amanda Lear's classic disco track 'Blood And Honey' in the post after he and I had bonded over it on the phone...it being was one of our fave disco tracks of all time.
Oh, did I mentioned he DJed as well?
So, anyway, in a salute to the store, I have asked Jim (Kontogiannis) to do us his Top 10 of the past decade and what a Top 10 it is...although these are all LPs, which is okay by me.
1. Arthur Russell 'Calling Out Of Context' (Rough Trade)
2. Like-A-Tim & Gina V. D'O'rio 'Bass Girl' (Like)
3. HTRK 'Marry Me Tonight' (Blast First Petite)
4. Trans Am 'Red Line' (Thrill Jockey)
5. Eddy Current Suppression Ring 'Eddy Current Suppression Ring' (Dropkick)
6. The Rapture 'Out Of The Races And Onto The Tracks' (Sub-Pop)
7. Soft Pink Truth 'Do You Want New Wave Or Do You Want The...' (Tigerbeat)
8. Zongamin 'Zongamin' (XL Recordings)
9. Optimo 'Sleepwalk' (Domino)
10. Peaches 'Teachers Of Peaches' (Kitty-Yo)
Murphy.

never a stickler for detail, the label on that like-a-tim number is actually his own LIKE/Clone label and not djax up beats ...
